“OBSERVATION REPORT”

OBSERVATION REPORT
In this observation report I draw
about how English teacher at MTsN Batusangkar taught in a class, especially in
class VII and it held on November 12, 2013. My group in this observation
consist of Desrawinda, Imam Aulia Putra and me my self.
At
that chance we observed several point start from the preparation, particular
method/ technique that used, teacher – students interaction, materials and
media, end up and the last is focus on language use.
Before
we began the observation, firstly I and my friend asked to the teacher whether
she prepared the lesson plan or not and the result is, she had prepared the
lesson plan.
In
the beginning of the class, the teacher began the class with pray with her
students, collected and checked her students homework and then she reviewed the
last materials for a while about “warning”. After that the teacher began to
explained the new lesson, “shopping list” but without linked it to the previous
material and also she did not appeared the goals/ objectives to the students.
For beginning the new material about
shoping list, the teacher draw a “birthday list” and asked the students what
that’s mean and what was the purpose that list. While the student try to
understand that list, the teacher also help the students to build their vocabulary by asked
the students the meanig of some word that appeared in the board. After that the
teacher draw on the whiteboard “daily need list”, and then the teacher asked
the student what are the meaning and the purpose of the list amd continued just
like the first example.
To build the students knowledge of the
lesson, the teacher gave a kind of attention gatter just like
“do you ever go to market?, Siapa
yang belum pernah”
And this continued to the teacher ask
the student what are some ativity and what list that caqn responsible happen in
that situation.
In model the lesson, the teacher use dictation
technique. The teacher dictated a dialogue to the student and the student were
asked to listened carefully and then the teacher gave some question to the student
related to the dialogue.
After that section, the teacher form
the students in a few group and fave them some topic to do. Example, group one
were responsible to make shoping list that related to make a rainbow cake. They
have to active in group to discss their own topic, and hey have to pair in
group. The group whoi finished first got an opportunity to take the fisrt
chance to present their discussion.
While the lesson, the student were
free to ask and answare question. They got fair opportunity and active durring
the lesson.
There is no electronic media that used
in that lesson, but it seem they still enjoy with the teacher technique. The
teacher gatter some skill in that lesson lesson just like increasing vocabulary
skill, speaking skill, and also listening skill.
In the end up the lesson, the teacher firstly
made sure that all the group were all ready presented, and the lesson clossed
by saying hamdallah. And for the extra work that was given to the
students was the student had responsibilty to asked their parents about the
shopping list that usually they made, and the teacher had to wrote it down and
present it in the next meeting class.
During the class, the teacher
dominantly used English, but sometime she also walk by Bahasa Indonesia,. The teacher expression just like,
Teacher :“ we start now?, bisa kita mulai?”
Students : Yes!!!
For the students to teacher, mostly
they ask to their teacher by using Minang, but they will answare their
teaacher’s question by using English and it also for a short answare too just
like “Yes”, “No”, and so forth. Based on my analyzed, the students
dominantly using Minang language. For example:
Student : “buk, a bahaso inggrisnyo mangaduak buk?”
Teacher : “mengaduk in
English is steering!”
And for the students to students
interaction, they just use Bahasa Minang. Just like
Student 1 : “Sen, ba kok ndak ang buek pr ang?”
Student 2 : “lupo den mang…”
Based on my analyze, generally, I
think this teacher were have good teaching technique although she did not uses
any electronic media and still have to increase some other technique.
